A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Gunalan started his career as a trainee engineer with Tenaga Nasional Berhad.
From there, he shifted to the fast-paced and exciting world of oil and gas by holding various commercial positions in PETRONAS for close to ten years. During his tenure with PETRONAS, he spent four years being posted in Vietnam as the CEO of one of PETRONAS’ subsidiaries.
Gunalan was appointed CEO of Pioneer Engineering in December 2010 with the responsibility for taking the company to the next level, which includes expanding overseas and diversifying into the renewables sector.
Chief Financial Officer
Aaron is a qualified CPA with the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and holds the designation of CA (Malaysia) with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
He began his career in a professional accountancy practice in 1997, serving for 6 years before moving on to the commercial industry. Since then, he has held key financial positions in various companies which include a public listed company in Singapore and multinational companies which were involved in the hospitality, gaming, manufacturing and financial services industries.
Head of Projects
Mohd Azmi Shukri holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree from Universiti Tenaga Nasional.
Azmi has a decade of experience in the gas turbine refurbishment activities including in-situ machining projects such as steam turbine casing machining, casing drilling, seal fin repair, ST diaphragm machining and more.
He is also responsible for the ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System) certification in Pioneer Engineering, in order to develop Quality Management, process-oriented and proper documentation culture amongst company personnel.
Head of Business Development
Imran started his career as Dredge Engineer with a local dredging contractor in 2010. He successfully completed a flood mitigation project at Sungai Muda, Kedah and moved to Jelutong, Penang for a land reclamation project. In 2012, he joined CWM Group as Operation and Maintenance Engineer for a sewage treatment plant in Putrajaya. He then became a Project Engineer for STP Refurbishment in Klang Valley. He started to serve Pioneer Engineering as a Proposal Engineer responsible for all bidding activities as well as developing business capacity. At present, he is the Head of Business Development and Proposals, taking full responsibility for developing the business model and capacity to grow bigger and securing contracts from Oil & Gas clients.
Head of Iraq Operations
Wisam started his career with well-known Iraqi contractor Abdullah Aweys Al-Jubouri in 2004, building bridges and performing various construction works. Later, he pursued a Master of Strategic Business Administration in Malaysia. Upon completion of his studies in 2012, Wisam was appointed by Pioneer Engineering to direct their Iraqi projects in maintenance of electrical and instrumentation (E&I) services and heavy oil transport (HOTS). Currently, Wisam is responsible for all of Pioneer Engineering’s activities in Iraq.
